Vault DM

Version 1.0, October 26, 2026. Both versions talk to the same relay, so Windows and Linux users can message each other.

VaultDM-1.0-windows-x64.zip

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Nothing else to install. Tor is included.

  1. Unzip the whole folder somewhere you’ll keep it.
  2. Open VaultDM.exe. Keep the tor and data folders next to it.
  3. Windows may warn that the app is from an unknown publisher, because this build is not code-signed yet. Choose More info and Run anyway.

VaultDM-1.0-linux-source.tar.gz

Source with a one-step install script. Tested on Debian 13. Needs OpenSSL 3.2 or newer (Debian 13, Ubuntu 25.04 and later) and a TPM 2.0.

tar -xzf VaultDM-1.0-linux-source.tar.gz
cd VaultDM-Linux
sh install.sh
./build/VaultDM

The script installs the build packages and Tor, builds the app, and adds you to the tss group so the app can use the TPM. Log out and back in once after the first install.

Each file has a fingerprint called a SHA-256. It is not a password or a key, and it can’t be used to get into anything. If one byte of the file changes, the fingerprint changes, so matching it shows your copy is the same file that was posted here, not a broken or swapped one.

A vault made on Windows does not open on Linux, and the other way round. Each one is sealed to the PC that made it.
